...Nothing to do but meet a formation at 1400. A few of us 24 boys are going to ferry some ships north. Maybe 3 - 4 trips. I'd just as soon do that as lay around tho. Not a bad deal.
Say I'm going to have a lot of time to spare & I wondered if you folks could gather me up a set of steel working tools. Small stuff. I might be able to make a few trinkets & stuff. Just look around for some tools & don't send them until I write for them. Need small vice, hack saw, plenty blades, drill - punches, chisels, tin snips, small ball & peen hammer, and any thing else you think I could use in light metal work.
Had a field day yesterday. Yesterday morning we looked at the plane grave yard. A awful lot of smashed ships. Something to see. After chow we went to Lae. Went to Malahang Beach and seen several Aussie gals swimming. Looked at jap ship shot to hell & beached out almost on dry land. Pretty large ship named Myoko Maru. Very Interesting. Stopped on our way back and ate about a gal of ice cream at an Aussie Canteen. First since we left the States...
