Oct 11, 1945

...Had a big clean up detail today. Scraped all the grass from around our shacks & burned out the weeds near them. Looks nice. Say Mama don't get excited, Billy will be there soon & so will I. Tell Billy to wear any of my cloths, but be ready to take them off (haha). I'll be there a long time before spring I hope. They are moving them out pretty fast. Hope I'll make it for Christmas.
I'll bet Billy will beat this letter there. Hope so. Don't guess he will know how to act as a civilian but tell him to wait & we will learn together. He will have about 90 days accrued leave time. Get a good pile of money out of that. Also tell him to keep his eyes open for some big business deal. I'm ready to invest my money in something. If I can find a good job I'm ready to start to work the day I get home. Boy I'm tired of vacationing. This is a poor place for it...
