Dear Folks
How is every one around Caney Ford? O.K. I hope.
Cravens my C.T.D. buddy is going home tomorrow. Quite a few crews are. Good deal I guess they have enuff points to get a discharge too. Not bad huh?
Say I'll tell you about the meal we had last nite. Lovely - meat loaf, potatoes, gravy, "cow" butter, olives, few more items. Then peach pie & ice cream. I bet I ate a quart. All I wanted. Linen table cloths too. I'd still like to eat some of Maws cooking tho. Good corn bread & butter. I love it.
My boys are playing dominos. I don't care much for the card games they play tho. I usually work on something or read. We attend movies every nite. Last nite saw Dick Jurgens & his marine band. Really a good show. Had quite a few acts besides the band. Had two hill billy singers. Best I've ever heard. Sang Wabash C. B. And some songs they had made up. One T.S. Blues. T.S. stands for tough situation.
Waiting for the mail. All we look forward to is mail call. Three meals, movies & the sack after a hard day. HA.
Water melons should be ripe now. I'd really like to skin my teeth on a big one right now. Well I'll be there for them next season & no kidding. Guess I'll have a patch in but I'm dog gone sure I won't if I can help it. I'll just eat what Dad grows.
Guess the boys will quit the farm now won't they. I guess the gov. should keep them there for a few years. Just kidding. They'll probably be drafted any way. You wrote that Dad said the army would ruin them. I think he's just a little wrong there...
