Samar, Sept 20, 1945

...Haven't flown for three days now. May be they are going to give me a rest. I doubt that tho. In six days I flew 3 times. Starting at about 2:30am & ending up about 2:00 that nite, It's no fun. I've been ferrying equipment for another group.
Raining here this morn. Still warm tho. I have the most lovely combination of sun tan & heat rash.
A lot of noise going on outside. They are digging a hole 7' deep 20' wide 100' long for a typhoon shelter. Sides and tops are to be made out of logs. Should be very strong & safe enuf.
Say did I ever name some of the places I've landed at, well here goes. Honolulu, Tarawa, Biak, Nadzab, Hollandia, Peleliu, Clark Fld. & Neilson, Luzon, Zamboanga, Palawan, Morotai, Samar, Okinawa & Tanuan. Seen a lot of beautiful seashore - palms etc. Towns mostly ruined. I've went swimming at quite a few of these places. If I had only had some films. I could have a flock of pictures. Well impossible I guess. I'm writing this laying flat on my belly on my cot which may account for the fact you can't read it.
Oh yeah I have two battle stars so far. Haven't done much bombing over here but have my share of the ferrying. I guess I'll have one big ribbon. HA HA. Think Billy has about 7 - 8. Not bad...
