Dear Folks
Well I've been waiting a while before writing but guess I might as well tell you what's going on.
We are at a transient camp at Clark Field. We're supposed to leave here soon but they seem to be short of planes & no telling when or how we'll get home. The crew is here together yet and maybe we will get a ship. They are going on points, combined with over sea time. My crew average is only 50. Which I guess isn't bad.
Very glad to hear Billy is in the States. Hi boy, hope you aren't raising to much cain or some thing. If this "Sunset Project," that's what they call the deal we're on, hadn't snafued I'd have been home by Thanksgiving. Well you hold every thing down & keep the gals happy until I get there. O.K.?
Glad to hear you got the check. I was worried about that. Some fellows brought the letter from Samar yesterday. I've been here a wk. & no more mail I guess.
Samar is closed as of yesterday. I kinda hated to leave my nice shack. We have a nice low tent here & have to use mosquito netting again. I finally found some planks to make me a floor. Hard luck.
So you got two letters written on the same day. Yes, we have no calendars. HA. I'm still poor at letter writing. I started once not to write but was afraid you folks would start looking for me to come home. The way it looks now. Well I'll let you know when I'm leaving here.
Food here is really nice even tho it is eaten from mess kits. We have a pool. Its usually so full of soldiers that you can't hardly see the water.
I'm just laying around getting fat. Well I'll hush Take it easy.
